The Kindergarten Classroom

A strong kindergarten experience helps prepare your child for success in future classrooms and beyond.

In our Kindergarten program, your child continues to build and expand on critical skills, including literacy and math. Primrose® introduces and reinforces new information through playful exploration, teacher-guided inquiry and rich discussion as they help foster Active Minds, Healthy Bodies, and Happy Hearts®.

Active Minds

Your child is growing by leaps and bounds academically, physically and socially. Our Balanced Learning® approach meets them where they are with engaging learning experiences that combine purposeful play with nurturing guidance from teachers.
  • Language & Literacy
    Language & Literacy

During the early years of your child’s life, it’s important to lay the foundation for literacy development. Literacy skills are introduced and built upon through various activities, including read-alouds and teacher-directed small groups.

  • Science, Engineering & Technology
    Science, Engineering & Technology

During Project Time, your child becomes an engineer as they practice creatively solving design challenges and real-world problems. For example, your child might work in a team to design a “vehicle” out of recycled materials and then test it to see if it works.

  • Mathematics
    Mathematics

Your kindergartener’s mathematical thinking moves beyond the understanding of simple patterns and counting. Teachers help your child learn problem-solving strategies and how math applies to everyday life as they play and explore using common objects.

  • Social Studies
    Social Studies

In the Kindergarten classroom, your child explores geography concepts, economics and global awareness as they learn about various cultures and gain respect for diverse beliefs. They also plan a giving event for their community as they learn and practice compassion and generosity.

Healthy Bodies

Creating and maintaining healthy habits takes time and consistency, and Primrose school teachers know every day is an opportunity to help children understand this. That’s why they weave health and wellness into daily classroom experiences all year long.
  • Thumbs Up!: Physical Development
    Thumbs Up!: Physical Development

Your child practices individual skills as well as participates in fun game-like situations with partners and in small groups. They also strengthen gross motor muscles by climbing, jumping and running on age-appropriate playgrounds.

  • Health & Safety
    Health & Safety

Ensuring the health and safety of children and staff is our top priority. Every Primrose school maintains exceptional safety and cleanliness standards while creating a nurturing environment where children can thrive.

  • Balanced Menus: Nutrition
    Balanced Menus: Nutrition

Teachers at Primrose schools know how to turn lunch into more than a tasty, healthy meal. They help your child become more independent by encouraging them to serve themselves and clean up after meals. Teachers also monitor eating and talk about the health benefits and nutritional value of the foods they are enjoying.

Happy Hearts

Teachers use our Balanced Learning curriculum every day to help children build character, develop thinking skills and practice caring for ourselves, others and our environment.
  • Happy Hearts Character Development Program®
    Happy Hearts Character Development Program®

In our Happy Hearts Character Development Program, children learn the importance of caring for and giving back to others by participating in activities that nurture empathy, teamwork, generosity and other essential character traits that prepare them for life.

  • Harmony & Heart: Music, Movement & Literature
Harmony & Heart: Music, Movement & Literature

Our exclusive Harmony & Heart® program uses music, movement and books twice a day, every day to help children learn important skills like patience, teamwork and empathy.

  • Life & Social Skills
    Life & Social Skills

Primrose school teachers use the Rules of the Roost, fun activities and more to help your kindergartener learn about kindness, taking care of the classroom and being a good citizen in their community.

  • Creative Arts & Expression
    Creative Arts & Expression

Exploring visual and creative arts, like music, literature and painting, will stimulate your kindergartener’s imagination and critical-thinking skills, which will enhance other areas of learning and development. For example, music is more than a melody; it’s a universal language made up of patterns and sequences, and teachers use it to help your child learn literacy and mathematical concepts.

Personalized Care and Instruction

Your kindergartener is ready to engage in more sustained learning experiences, and their teacher helps them explore new ways to tackle problems, overcome challenges through persistence and engage in trial-and-error. Their teacher also pays close attention to your child’s development and personalizes learning experiences to meet their individual strengths and opportunities.

See What Families Are Saying

We have loved our experience with Primrose. The entire staff is kind, caring and deeply committed to the education and wellbeing of the students. Throughout our five years with our school, our experiences have always been positive. We are constantly impressed with the knowledge our children bring home. Our eldest child was at Primrose starting at age 3 and completed kindergarten at the school. As a result of the care and education received, she absolutely excelled in first grade and went into school at the top of her class. We cannot say enough good things about school.
Highly recommend Primrose School! All of the staff is friendly, patient, and caring towards both of my girls! My oldest daughter started when she was 2 years old and attended through Kindergarten, with her sister following closely behind. When she changed schools for first grade, she possessed the confidence, social, and communication skills for a very smooth transition. The best problem we had was that she was too prepared for first grade, excelling in reading, math, writing, in addition to not being overwhelmed by the information presented because she had already seen it before. Her first grade teacher was very surprised to see her reading at almost 2nd grade level and loved that she knows when to be silly and when to do her schoolwork. “She is an excellent example to her peers and classmates” was expressed multiple times in our first parent teacher conference at her new school. The teachers at Primrose are second to none and it is such a wonderful feeling as a parent; we truly consider all of the staff our second family!
